Angel Solis, Ph.D.
My interest in science began in middle school after being diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Trying to understand the processes that occur in my body, and how they can become dysregulated in my own disease made me realize the beautiful mechanisms that underlie basic human functions. These early experiences have shaped my approach to both teaching and research. As a teacher, I try to impart the excitement I have for biology to illustrate important scientific principals and to inspire a passion for curiosity. As a researcher, I try to better understand host-microbe interactions to identify novel aspects of human pathologies. Beyond science, I have a deep interest in music. I have written and performed music since I was 12 years old, and am always looking for new musical recommendations to inspire me!
